ABOUT ME
Listening to Your Needs
Hello my name is Becky Sherrington. I have worked for the NHS for 19 years after qualifying with a BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy degree.
I am within my second year of being a full time private Speech and Language Therapist.
I am a member of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practise (ASLTIP) and a Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). I am also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Since qualifying, I have gained a Post Basic Dysphagia certificate amongst other significant training which includes Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale 2 (ADOS 2). ADOS 2 training allows me to diagnose Autism or Autistic Spectrum Disorder in conjunction with another trained professional.
I will hopefully be providing this service very soon.
My knowledge and experience has grown from strength to strength within the public sector. I am now transferring these skills to provide high quality individualised support privately.
I have worked with Preschool, Mainstream School Age, Special School and SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) clients who present with communication and/or dysphagia (eating and drinking) needs. Their ages range from 16 months - 22 years old.
All paediatric communication fascinates me and I have a particular interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
With experience of working in educational establishments first-hand, I fully acknowledge the requirement education have to support children with additional needs.
I work with a range of commissioners. Please look at my "Working with education" page and "Medico-legal" page for more information.
With two children of my own, I understand personally and professionally the vested interest a team has (including parents) to enable a child to do the best they can.
